a poem for the newly weds

If I named you
What would it be?
To encompass all the traits that I adore.
A single sound so soothing to the ear,
So compassionate, so comforting- so clear,
That but for this sound, no one would want for more.

If I held you,
How would it feel?
To end all feeling and be satisfied.
A sensation so soft, silky, so sweet
So caring, so caressing- so complete,
That your presence, even in your absence, is by my side.

I will call you “married to me”
And vow till death in you only to confide
And I will hold you like a shadow
Joined at the Souls
To promise you my next hundred lifetimes.
As long as there is light
There will be my love as my guide.
